Stevin "Hedake" Smith

Stevin“Hedake” Smith was a decorated college basketball player at Arizona State University from 1990-1994 who was at the center of the biggest point shaving scandal in college sports history. He left ASU as its all-time leading scorer and holder of several ASU and Pac-10 records that still stands today. Stevin had a decorated college career where he was an All-American and 1 st team All-Pac 10 performer; he also represented his country as the Captain of the USA World University Games in 1993. He finished his career at ASU as being voted ASU Male Student Athlete of the year, beating current golfing great Phil Mickelson, future MLB player Mike Kelly and future NFL player Jake Plummer amongst others. His biggest and most unfortunate mishap in his career was being assigned inmate # 01044-748.

Stevinhas embarked on a mission to talk to as many college and high school student athletes throughout the country about the perils of gambling. Stevin is driven to use the compelling experiences of his decorated college career and his fall from grace for the benefit of others so they can learn from his mistake.

Stevinputs on a powerful poignant presentation about the downfalls of college athletes and gambling with his speech on “Don’t Fall from Grace”.  Stevin went from a person who had so much promise and so much to gain, to a person who lost it all. Stevin will share how he went from being the “Big Man on Campus” with a future NBA career to being inmate 01044-748 in federal prison.
